Our Story
Established in 1991 trading under the name of "Seafood King"; Dave and Nicki (his wife) started the business with a refrigerated box on the back of a 1 tonne ute providing door-to-door sales throughout the Mareeba to Dimbulah region.
In 1993 the demand for seafood continued to grow as did the business which lead to Dave & Nicky opening a fitted out retail shop in Mareeba on April the 1st. In 2009, the decision to branch off to seafood wholesaling was made, the renowned for retail business "Seafood King" was sold and Mackerel Man NQ was established.
In 2013 Dave & Nicki's son Jake came on board as a delivery person and has worked his way into sales.
In 2021, a premise in the Cairns region was fitted out as a slicing room with all the processing now conducted from there. Today, the family run business has built a seafood wholesale business that provides services Australia wide with a team passionate about what they do and dedicated to delivering the freshest quality seafood to our customers.
